The Modular Collection

Founded by married design duo Alex Sommer (Mr Concrete) and Laura Keller (Mrs Wax) of 2SOM Studio at the end of 2018 CONCRETE & WAX is a brand built upon innovative and handmade product that is unique to the market. Set up with sustainability at the forefront, we strive for minimum waste, employ local craftsmen to create our prototypes, handmake all of our moulds, source as locally as possible and only create products that are beautiful and built to stand the test of time.

When we initially designed our modular collection of hand poured concrete holders and natural wax pillar candles, we didn’t want to just bring another candle brand into an already saturated marketplace. Our focus was on designing innovative multi-functional product that fully respects the long duration of life a concrete product deserves, so every single one of our holders is designed not just to fit our pillar candles, but to also fit any standard tealight. This allows customers the option to continue the lifespan of their holders long after the candle they purchased with the holder has finished.

The modular design of the collection also allows customers the chance to change the way they style their CONCRETE & WAX pieces, by changing a candle size on a holder and stacking holders on top of each other. They can build their collection over time whilst continually altering the way it looks, keeping it fresh and adapting the style to suit their mood. Since its launch in 2019 we have continued to add colours, styles and candle fragrances to give more choice and diversity to the collection - and this will continue...

Each of our modular holders can be stacked on top of its own size holder or a larger one. Our Tealight Trio can be stacked into a tower to burn one of our slim candles or a tealight at the top, or grouped as a trio and used to burn three. Our candle plate can be used to burn any of our candles or a tealight. Our concrete pot can also fit any of our candles or a tealight, as can its lid. As our concrete is now available in black, grey, white, teal, blush, snocam and DPM camouflage and our candles are available in 6 house fragrances developed to be burnt independently but also to beautifully blend together (Lime Basil & Mandarin, Sandalwood & Black Pepper; Tobacco & Oak; Amber Noir; Curious Rose; Cherished Leather), the stacking and arranging possibilities are almost endless.
