Jane Austen x British Library Collection

Victoria Eggs

Created in collaboration with the British Library, the Jane Austen Collection by Victoria Eggs celebrates 250 years of one of England’s most beloved authors. This collection matters because it brings Austen’s wit, elegance, and timeless charm into everyday life, allowing readers and collectors to connect emotionally with her world.

Designed and handmade in the UK, the range reimagines Austen’s Regency refinement through sustainable materials and exquisite craftsmanship. Every detail draws inspiration from the world she wrote - the delicate gloves, bonnets, books, and teapots that filled her novels and afternoons. In 1999, Jane Austen’s portable writing desk was entrusted to the British Library, and among the items stored were three pairs of spectacles belonging to the writer. These appear throughout Victoria’s designs, often alongside her six most celebrated novels.

Each illustration is hand-drawn by Victoria and beautifully applied across fine bone china, textiles, wood, and paper, creating a timeless celebration of Austen’s literary world. Her quotes appear throughout, celebrating her love of reading and tea:
“I declare after all there is no enjoyment quite like reading.”
“I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent book.”
“How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book!”
“I would rather have nothing but tea.”

The fine bone china range, handcrafted by Duchess China in Staffordshire, features 22-carat gold detailing that adds a touch of quiet luxury. From Cornish clay to hand-applied gilding, up to 20 pairs of skilled British hands contribute to the making of each mug or jug.

Textiles are ethically produced by Countryside Art in Lincolnshire using water-based inks and traceable cotton, while wooden decorations are crafted from sustainably sourced birch in the UK. Each piece carries Austen’s much-loved quotes.

This refined and refreshingly relevant design is available exclusively through the British Library, the collection is perfect for literature lovers, collectors, and anyone seeking meaningful, sustainable gifts that blend storytelling, design, and British craftsmanship.

The main purpose of the British Library is to collect, preserve, and provide access to knowledge and information for research, learning, and to serve the public and the nation, acting as a resource for everyone.

Each product is designed to last a lifetime, celebrating slow gifting and conscious collecting.
