2026 Winners - Sunshine Lane
From a shared passion for wellbeing to a Gift of the Year-winning product, Sunshine Lane has captured the attention of retailers, consumers, and judges alike.
Founded on the belief that self-care should be both accessible and meaningful, Sunshine Lane creates beautifully designed wellbeing tools that help people navigate the challenges of modern life. This year's Gift of the Year success was particularly special, marking the first collaborative project between founder Charlotte and her mother, Allison, who officially joined the business in 2024. Together, they combined expertise in design, mental health, and social work to create a toolkit that brings practical therapeutic strategies into everyday life.
Following their Gift of the Year win, we caught up with Charlotte to discuss the inspiration behind their award-winning product, the impact the recognition has had on the business, and what's next for the growing brand.
How does it feel to be a Gift of the Year winner?
It feels absolutely surreal and is a huge ‘pinch-me’ moment for us. Reaching the finals for the second year running was an honour, but this year is extra special because it’s the first product I have collaborated on with my mum, Allison, since we officially became a mother-daughter team.
What does this recognition mean for your business?
It has given new stockists the confidence to trial the range, and we’ve seen exceptional sell-through rates, with many reordering within weeks. To have our combined professional experience recognised by such an esteemed panel of judges is a milestone I will never forget.
Tell us the story behind your winning product.
In our product line-up, I have always had practical tools that supported people's wellbeing. When my mum, Allison, joined Sunshine Lane in 2024, we wanted to merge our professional backgrounds in mental health and social work to create something that put therapy room strategies directly in your pocket. She poured all of her clinical expertise, evidence-based strategies, and heart into creating the content for these toolkits, while I took care of the design and sourcing.
What makes it stand out in the market?
I think it stood out because it’s a functional gift that doesn't compromise on aesthetics. Consumers are increasingly looking for items that have a long-term, positive impact on the recipient’s daily life - gifts that move beyond a passing moment of novelty and become meaningful tools for ongoing comfort and self-reflection. While the design is vibrant, the content is deeply impactful - so much so that we’ve seen a surge in mental health professionals purchasing them to use as tangible resources for their own clients.
How did your business begin?
The world can honestly feel exhausting. Between the relentless pace of daily life, competing priorities, and constant digital information overload, it’s incredibly loud out there. People are actively looking for pockets of peace. Through my own experiences with chronic health issues and a late-in-life autism diagnosis, I learned that intentional self-care isn’t a luxury - it’s an absolute necessity. I began creating tools to manage my own wellbeing, and it quickly became clear that consumers are waking up to this reality too. They are prioritising wellbeing products because they are looking for tangible tools to help them pause, protect their mental health, and feel a little lighter.
What has been your biggest milestone so far?
On a personal level, being able to build this alongside my mum and combine our professional backgrounds to create tools for everyday calm has been a dream come true. But from a business perspective, our biggest milestone has been reaching the Gift of the Year finals for the second year running, coupled with the incredible response from our retail partners. Seeing immediate sell-through success and having stockists return for major restocks within weeks of their initial trial proved that there is a genuine market demand for what we are creating. Winning the award for our very first project together was the ultimate validation.
What’s next for your brand? I am pouring so much love into designing our upcoming summer collection, 'Patchwork Positivity'. For those of us who love stationery and journalling, the tactile nature of paper and stickers so often becomes a much-needed moment of calm. We will be officially launching the entire new line in person at StationeryFest on the 24th and 25th July.
