Congratulations on being a finalist! How does it feel to be recognised in this year’s Gift of the Year awards? Truly amazing. I love growing my business and learning, so the whole process if such a joy to me already, but winning would be incredible. It is the first award I have entered so to win off the bat would be fab!
Can you tell us a little about your brand and the inspiration behind your successful product? I am a creative person and have an eye for design. I think the most important thing I do, which sets me apart from the rest, is I pick up the phone and talk to people. I also started the Business doing door-to-door sales, and I just love talking to people and telling them about my product. I asked people to give me honest feedback and they do. It is a general public who have helped create the product.
What makes your product special, and why do you think it stood out to the judges? My product has a fabulous price point for retailers. That, along with the fact that I’m a very open person, helps retailers trust me and want to buy my product. Yes, mistakes happen. But calling retailers, telling them what the problem is and creating solutions helped me grow. At the beginning, it was really hard, but now I am at a stage where everything is set, and all I have to do is tweak the product to make it even better.
Who is your product designed for, and what kind of reaction have you had from customers so far? My product is for somebody who wants a little bit of luxury that doesn’t break the bank. My price point is under £10, so it is perfect for personal use and as a gift. I offer only four fragrant variations with all different fragrance notes, so if you are not keen on one, you are likely to love another.
What trends or themes do you think are shaping the gifting industry right now? You know what? I’m probably not the best person to answer this. My product is relatively niche, and yes, I work with retailers on a daily basis, but I try not to buy into trends.
How has being shortlisted, and now being a finalist impacted your brand so far, and what do you hope to achieve from the awards? Becoming a short Lister and now finalist has exceeded my expectations. I have received lots of new Business from it and had a stand near the gift of the year showcasing at the NEC which hugely impact my success at that event. I will forever be a fan of the Gift of the Year Awards and hope to be a regular attendee at the events.
What exciting plans do you have for the future? I have a small product redesign, and I also have two new fabulous fragrances which will be launching in autumn
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received (or given), and why? My mum gave me a necklace Lockett with a photo of me and my brother, I wear it often,
