Company Name: Namaste
Product(s) in the Finalist: Terracotta Watering Spikes & Recycled Sari Gift Wrap
Congratulations on being a finalist! How does it feel to be recognised in this year’s Gift of the Year awards? We’re absolutely delighted to be recognised as a finalist in this year’s Gift of the Year Awards. It’s a real honour, not only for our team but also for the talented artisans who hand-make our products. Recognition like this reinforces the importance of creating items that are both beautifully made . and responsibly sourced. It’s incredibly rewarding to see a product like our Recycled Sari Gift Wrap, rooted in sustainability and craftsmanship, being celebrated in this way.
Can you tell us a little about your brand and the inspiration behind your successful product? At Namaste, we are passionate about creating beautifully handcrafted products that celebrate traditional artisan skills while supporting sustainable livelihoods. Working closely with long-term producer partners, we focus on fairly traded, environmentally responsible designs that combine craftsmanship with purpose.
Our Recycled Sari Gift Wrap was inspired by a desire to rethink single use gifting. By transforming discarded sari fabrics into reusable wraps, we give new life to existing materials while offering a more sustainable, thoughtful alternative to paper gift wrap. Each piece reflects the vibrancy and heritage of traditional Indian textiles, with no two ever the same.
Similarly, our watering spikes were developed with both practicality and mindful living in mind. Designed to support easy, efficient plant care, they encourage a more sustainable approach to watering, helping to reduce waste while making everyday routines simpler. Like many of our products, they combine functionality with thoughtful design, making them ideal for modern lifestyles where convenience and sustainability go hand in hand.
Both products reflect our core philosophy: creating items that are not only useful and beautifully made but also have a positive impact, whether through reducing waste, supporting artisan communities, or encouraging more conscious ways of living.
What makes your product special, and why do you think it stood out to the judges? Both products stand out for their ability to combine thoughtful design with sustainability and everyday practicality.
Our Recycled Sari Gift Wrap is truly unique, as each piece is made from repurposed sari fabric, meaning no two are ever the same. This individuality, combined with its reusable nature, transforms it from simple packaging into a gift in its own right. It offers a meaningful alternative to single use wrapping, blending vibrant design with a clear environmental benefit.
Our watering spikes stand out for their simplicity and usefulness. Designed to make plant care easier and more efficient, they support a more mindful approach to watering by helping to reduce waste and maintain consistent hydration for plants. Their appeal lies in solving an everyday need in a practical, accessible way.
We believe both products resonated with the judges because they reflect key values shaping the market today: sustainability, functionality and longevity, while remaining beautifully designed and accessible. Each product tells a story, whether through the reuse of traditional textiles or by encouraging more conscious daily habits, which helps them stand out in a crowded marketplace.
Who is your product designed for, and what kind of reaction have you had from customers so far? Our Recycled Sari Gift Wrap is designed for conscious gift givers who value sustainability, uniqueness and style. It appeals to customers who want their gifts to feel thoughtful and meaningful, and who appreciate the story behind the product. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. People love the vibrant colours, the individuality of each wrap, and the fact that it can be reused in multiple ways, from gift wrap to accessories.
The watering spikes are designed for plant enthusiasts and busy gardeners looking for practical, reliable solutions to everyday plant care. Customers appreciate how simple they are to use, their effectiveness in reducing water waste, and the way they make caring for plants more convenient.
Feedback has been very encouraging, with many highlighting how much easier it makes watering both indoor and outdoor plants.
What trends or themes do you think are shaping the gifting industry right now? Sustainability continues to be one of the biggest drivers in the gift industry. Consumers are increasingly looking for products that reduce waste, can be reused, or have a clear ethical and environmental story behind them. There is also a growing demand for handmade and artisan-led items that feel personal and unique. People want gifts that have character, meaning and a story, rather than mass-produced, generic items.
Products that combine functionality with style and longevity are especially popular. Items that can be enjoyed repeatedly, serve multiple purposes, or make everyday life easier, such as reusable gift wrap or practical home accessories, are increasingly valued.
Finally, transparency and traceability are becoming increasingly important. Shoppers want to know where a product comes from, who made it, and whether it supports ethical practices. This is why artisan-focused, fairly traded products resonate so strongly.
How has being shortlisted, and now being a finalist impacted your brand so far, and what do you hope to achieve from the awards? Being shortlisted, and now named a finalist, has been an incredibly rewarding experience for our brand. It is a wonderful recognition of the craftsmanship, creativity and sustainability values that underpin everything we do at Namaste, as well as the hard work of our artisan partners.
This recognition has already helped raise awareness of our products among both retailers and consumers, reinforcing the importance of ethically made, sustainable gifts in today’s market.
From the awards, we hope to further highlight the value of products that combine design, functionality and positive impact, whether that is reducing waste, supporting artisan communities, or encouraging more conscious consumer choices. Ultimately, we aim to reach new audiences who share our commitment to thoughtful, sustainable gifting.
What exciting plans do you have for the future? Looking ahead, we are focused on growing our product ranges while staying true to our core values of sustainability, craftsmanship and ethical sourcing. We plan to continue working closely with our artisan partners to develop new, beautifully designed products that combine functionality with a positive impact.
Expanding our collections allows us to offer customers more ways to shop consciously, whether through reusable, eco friendly giftware, practical home accessories, or unique handcrafted items. By innovating thoughtfully and supporting skilled artisans, we hope to create products that are not only desirable but also meaningful and long lasting.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received (or given), and why? The best gifts I’ve ever received aren’t about value—they’re the thoughtful, meaningful ones, or simply time spent with people I love. I couldn’t choose just one, as I’ve been lucky to receive so many lovely gifts over the years. It's shows that someone has really paid attention to who you are, what you love, and what matters to you. It’s not about the item itself, but the effort, care, and intention behind it.
