2026 Finalist - eCO-aBLE
We’re delighted to shine a light on Eco-Able, finalist in this year’s Gift of the Year Awards, with their beautifully thoughtful children’s book About Hedgehog.
Created by founder Dani Seatter, Eco-Able specialises in purposeful, sustainably made books for early years. About Hedgehog was written to gently support children and families through bereavement — helping them find the right words at one of life’s most difficult moments.
With its tender storytelling and comforting illustrations, the book has already touched many families, offering connection, understanding and reassurance when it’s needed most. We caught up with Dani to talk about the inspiration behind the book, the growing demand for meaningful gifts, and what being a Gift of the Year finalist means for Eco-Able.

Product(s) in the Finalist: ‘About Hedgehog’ children’s book
Congratulations on being a finalist! How does it feel to be recognised in this year’s Gift of the Year awards? It’s a real honour to be a finalist for our children’s book ‘About Hedgehog’ in this year’s awards. We’re passionate about creating purposeful books for children.
Can you tell us a little about your brand and the inspiration behind your successful product? Our brand specialises in creating purposeful, sustainably made children’s books for early years. ‘About Hedgehog’ was written to support children and families with bereavement. It may be an unusual gift, but for families dealing with loss it can really help at a time which is really difficult.
What makes your product special, and why do you think it stood out to the judges? Our book is designed to help families find the right words at the right time to support loss and bereavement. It’s a beautifully illustrated picture book with a story at the heart which children will find supportive and helpful in dealing with bereavement. We know that our customers want to send meaningful gifts and this book is just that.
Who is your product designed for, and what kind of reaction have you had from customers so far? Our book is designed for children 3-11 years old, to help them feel less alone when going through bereavement. We know from feedback that the book has helped in so many ways, from helping have conversations, helping families connect with one another and developing children’s understanding of death and grief. When people don’t know what to do to support their friends and loved ones, sending our book as a gift can help to show how much they care and helps families to feel less alone in grief.
What trends or themes do you think are shaping the gifting industry right now? We can see that people are looking for more meaningful gifts at the moment, wanting to spend money on the things that matter and that they really care about.
How has being shortlisted, and now being a finalist impacted your brand so far, and what do you hope to achieve from the awards? Being a finalist has been wonderful so far, it’s really helped in reaching new audiences and highlighting our range of purposeful books and educational resources.
What exciting plans do you have for the future? We’re busy working on new books and working with educational suppliers, plus other specialist organisations to further our reach.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received (or given), and why? I was recently gifted a really unique necklace with a hidden image of my brother, who died recently, and it’s really special as I can keep him with me when I wear it. Such a thoughtful and meaningful gift.
